Going Into 2025 with New Energy as a hairstylist

Uncategorized Jan 20, 2025

As the calendar flips to January, social media and other platforms are brimming with messages about setting goals and creating a “new you.” But by mid-January, many of us find ourselves slipping back into old habits. Why? Often, it’s because we haven’t paused to truly reflect on what’s working and what’s not in our lives and businesses as hairstylists.

In this blog post, we’ll explore how hairstylists can shift their energy, let go of what’s not serving them, and invite new opportunities into their lives and businesses for a thriving 2025.

Reflection: What Worked and What Didn’t?

The first step to creating change is reflecting on the past year. Ask yourself:

  1. What has been working in my life and business as a hairstylist? Write down everything that’s brought you success, joy, or balance. These are the things you’ll want to build upon.

  2. What hasn’t been working? Be honest. Are there clients draining your energy? Services you dread offering? Habits in your personal life that no longer serve you? The more clarity you have, the better equipped you’ll be to make meaningful changes.

Making Space for the New

To bring new energy into your life, you must create space for it. That might mean letting go of:

  • Clients who don’t align with your values or who cross boundaries.

  • Services or offerings that no longer excite you as a hairstylist.

  • Habits that drain your energy or waste your time.

Consider these questions:

  • Is there a task or relationship that’s causing you stress as a hairstylist? Why is it draining you?

  • Can you change or remove this element from your life? If not, how can you shift your relationship with it?

Setting Boundaries

Change often requires setting new boundaries. If you have clients or relationships that are taking more than they give, think about:

  • What boundaries need to be established?

  • How will you communicate these boundaries clearly and professionally?

Sometimes, tough conversations are necessary. While they can be uncomfortable, they’re often healing and transformative.

Shifting Your Energy

Shifting energy isn’t just about mindset; it’s also about movement and intention. Here are some ways to release stuck energy:

  • Physical movement: Go for a power walk, run, or bike ride. Focus on letting go with each step.

  • Nature connection: Spend time outdoors, gardening, or simply breathing in fresh air.

  • Journaling: Write out what’s draining you and what you want to release.

For me, gardening has been incredibly therapeutic. Working in an overgrown cherry orchard, cutting down old trees, and clearing space has not only been physically satisfying but has also mirrored my internal process of letting go.

Inviting the New

Once you’ve reflected and released, it’s time to focus on what you want to invite into your life. Ask yourself:

  • What new opportunities, clients, or habits do I want to attract as a hairstylist?

  • How can I align my energy and actions with these goals?

Remember, small, intentional steps can create profound change. Start by shifting your beliefs. If you believe attracting new clients through social media is hard, look for proof that it can be easy. Find examples of others who are succeeding and take one step toward that mindset every day.

Lessons and Patterns

When something isn’t working, it’s an opportunity to learn. Reflect on:

  • What have I learned from this situation?

  • What warning signs can I recognize for the future?

Pay attention to your body’s signals. Discomfort, awkwardness, or stress can be clues that something’s not right. Use these feelings to guide you toward better decisions.

Letting Go

Letting go doesn’t mean failure; it means growth. Whether it’s a habit, a client, or a belief, releasing what’s no longer serving you opens up space for something better. During this process, consider activities that help you channel energy, such as exercise, journaling, or meditating.

Co-Creating Your Future

When you release what’s draining you and align with what uplifts you, you shift your energy. This shift not only impacts how you feel but also how others perceive you. People can sense your energy, and positive energy attracts positive outcomes.

Reflect on these questions as you prepare for 2025:

  • What do I want to let go of?

  • How can I release stuck energy?

  • What new opportunities or energies do I want to invite into my life as a hairstylist?

Final Thoughts

You deserve an incredible year filled with balance, joy, and success as a hairstylist. Take time to reflect, release, and realign. When you do, you’re not only creating space for new opportunities but also stepping into a version of yourself that’s ready to thrive.
